September's Open Issues at the Python SDK
The community team at the Hiero Python SDK has been working behind the scenes since November 2024 to help Python developers plug into Hedera’s decentralized network using Python code.
We’re calling all Python developers—from seasoned veterans to enthusiastic beginners—to join us in this effort. Helping us solve these issues is a fantastic way to gain practical experience and strengthen our collective codebase.
Here’s how you can roll up your sleeves, gain Python skills, and help our SDK blossom:
🚀 What’s Going On?
This September, the Hiero Python SDK community has plenty of opportunities to contribute—whether you’re a new developer or experienced one. From documentation and developer tools to queries, transactions, and tokens, your contributions can help push the SDK forward.
Several open issues are actively being addressed, while others are ready for new contributors.
🌱 Opportunities for New Developers

Make it easier for newcomers to get set up quickly. -
#178 – Default Signing Documentation
Clarify how developers can use default signing in the SDK. -
#367 – Refactor documentation for modularity and readability
Improve the organization of existing docs. -
#369 – Refactor token creation examples for consistency
Standardize examples to make them easier to follow. -
#365 – Refactor logging_example.py to reduce repetition
Simplify example code while keeping it clear. -
#340 – Add a “Set up VS testing suite” doc
Help contributors configure their development environments.

Enhance checksum validation for safer and more reliable token operations. -

Debug and fix query issues in single-node environments. -
#192 – Strengthen Branch Protections
Help enforce better CI/CD practices and prevent accidental merges. -
#193 – Sign Releases with GPG Keys
Add extra security to SDK releases by implementing signed builds.
